Editors rating

The Aqua Marine SPK-1 inflatable stand-up paddleboard is the perfect option for smaller riders or kids. Measuring in at 9.9 feet long, four inches thick and thirty inches wide, this model isn’t ideal for most adults because it cannot support much weight. A low priced model, the SPK-1 features a removable tri-fin style, stainless steel D-ring located on the tail, and an EVA anti-slip pad.

Aqua Marine SPK-1 ISUP Review: Product Overview

Designed for lighter riders, this model is perfect for first waves or flat water. The shape of the board features the classic pintail design, which promotes better maneuverability and speed. The board measures in at 9.9 and feels more like a shortboard than a paddleboard. Because it’s inflatable, it’s much easier to lug around than traditional stand-up board models and weighs in at just over twenty-one pounds. For easy storage or portability, simply deflate the board and roll it up.

The Downside of the SPK-1 SUP

This is one of the best-priced models of inflatable SUPs around and because of this, it’s also a pretty big seller. However, there are a couple of issues with this board that should be mentioned. First off, if you’re looking for a board that can be used by two people, even two children, this model is not it. For safety purposes, this model should only carry one person at a time. If loaded with too much weight the board will flex and begin to sink. Consumers were also disappointed that it didn’t come with a removable seat, which many popular models do.

This ISUP comes with an upgraded hand pump, three fins, a three piece adjustable aluminum paddle and carry bag. The board is made from PVC material and utilizes drop stitch construction.

How Consumers Rated the Aqua Marine SPK-1

Consumers gave this model a rating of four out of five stars for affordability and the durable design of the board. Some users felt that the price was set too steep for a board that’s only able to safely handle one rider at a time. Perfect for petite riders or children, the SPK-1 is not a board meant to carry two users or any user that’s more than two-hundred pounds. With positive feedback regarding the way this board handles, it’s an excellent choice for women in search of a board that’s easy to navigate and lightweight enough to tote around. While most inflatable paddleboards are not meant for surfing, most users will take their boards out to catch first waves, and this board is no different. Equipped with a stainless steel D-ring, professionals recommend purchasing a leash in order to better track your board on the water. Currently, this model is priced at $419. If you’re looking for a paddleboard that’s able to handle two adults, pass this SPK-1 up and expect to drop at least two-hundred dollars more for a significantly larger board.
